The Chamber of Commerce Northern Territory (CCNT) is the largest employer association in the Northern Territory, representing and supporting businesses since 1957. As a not-for-profit, non-government organisation, we are dedicated to leading advocacy and delivering practical, high-quality services that strengthen NT businesses locally, nationally, and internationally.
Our Workplace Relations team plays a vital role in helping NT businesses navigate the complexities of industrial relations and human resources compliance, providing timely and professional advice to our valued members.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
This is a hands-on advisory role supporting members with workplace relations, HR advice, and compliance matters. You will work closely with businesses across diverse industries, providing practical solutions and guidance while ensuring compliance with legislation and best practice frameworks.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Industrial/ Workplace Relations
- Provide timely advice to members in relation to:
- Fair Work Act / Legislation
- National Employment Standards
- Award / Enterprise Agreement interoperation / application
- Wage rates, classifications, BOOT testing,
- Compliance Auditing
- Performance management
- Workplace Investigations
- Discipline, termination, and redundancy obligations
- Injury Management
- Work Health and Safety
- HR Business Partnering in-house assignments as required
- Support and actively contribute to Chamber NT advice line services and maintain records within the WR team systems
- Preparing high quality written advice, letters, and other documentation
- Assisting with preparing and delivering education presentations as part of Chamber NT training program
- Undertake research activities as assigned and to maintain currency with legislation and case law outcome
- Assist as required with relevant documents to support Fair Work Commission submission
- Assist with research as assigned
- Maintain data entry to the CCNT membership database ensuring accurate records
- Records Management and sound understanding of the Privacy Act, confidentiality, and intellectual property
Administration / Records Management
As required support and monitor the WR email account with incoming correspondence and manage accordingly ensuring document control management is applied where applicable
Marketing and Communications
- Proactively promote workplace relations services to the business community
- Support Chamber NT events and functions as required
- Performing other duties required by law, as appropriate, or as may be directed by Workplace Relations Officer
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Workplace Relations or Human Resources
- Strong knowledge of workplace legislation, awards, and Fair Work frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases and priorities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Eligible to work in Australia and hold (or be able to obtain) an NT Driver’s Licence
Desirable Selection Criteria:
- Experience in advocacy, compliance auditing, or Fair Work Commission submissions
- Business acumen and understanding of fee-for-service models
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team or remote/regional environments
