Description:
Risk Analytics Section is looking for a Data Scientist to develop models and analytics solutions, collaborate with stakeholders, and effectively communicate findings.We leverage advanced data analytics to detect fraud and non-compliant behaviour through developing sophisticated statistical, machine learning, and data visualization tools to protect the integrity of Australia's health payments system.
Mandatory qualifications:
- A degree in Health, Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics, Economics or related field, and
- A post graduate technical degree and/or considerable applied advanced analytical experience
- Experience working in a compliance, health or data analytics role
- Hands on experience with enterprise data warehouse technologies such as Google Cloud Platform and Teradata
- Hands on experience with SQL, and R or Python programming
- Hands on experience with data analytical platforms such as R Shiny, SAS, Power BI and Qlik
- Knowledge of the Medicare Benefits Schedule or the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
- Experience with statistical methods
- Experience in programming for AI, machine learning and big data
The key duties of the position include
- Utilise advanced statistical and machine learning methods to analyse complex datasets, delivering actionable insights that inform policy and operational decisions
- Work closely with stakeholders to ensure data science projects are effectively integrated into larger government initiatives
- Clearly and effectively convey technical results and findings to non-technical audiences, such as senior executives, stakeholders and community groups, using reports, presentations and data visualisation tools
- Contribute to team efforts as required, and representing the team in forums and meetings
- Introduce analytical and data science methods that are new to compliance systematically embedding capability in team
- Identify, develop and maintain relationships to deliver work outcomes
- Create analytical methodologies and standards for the team
