We’re seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Advisor to become a key part of our Health & Safety team at CITIC Pacific Mining. This is a permanent opportunity on an 8/6 roster, FIFO from Perth.
Reporting to the Superintendent - Health and Safety, this role is responsible for providing advice, assistance, guidance, and support to all personnel on all Health and Safety issues relevant to the Sino Iron Project, with the aim of providing a safe workplace for employees, contracting partners and visitors.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, identify hazards, and carry out risk assessments to prevent incidents.
- Provide specialist input into Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Job Hazard Environmental Analyses (JHEA), and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with work teams to identify risks, prepare JHEAs, and conduct team-based risk assessments.
- Participate in incident investigations, applying root cause analysis and developing SMART corrective actions.
- Support Health & Safety representatives to enhance their impact and effectiveness.
- Review existing work procedures to identify opportunities for improving hazard controls and operational safety.
- Coach, advise, and support the site team in implementing and auditing Health & Safety Plans and Procedures.
- Clearly communicate Health & Safety compliance requirements to all team members and stakeholders.
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety ( essential ).
- Minimum of 3 years mining/resource industry experience in a similar role.
- A current manual driver’s licence ( essential ).
- Strong working knowledge of the WA WHSA, WHSMR, and relevant Australian Standards and Codes of Practice.
- Experience in conducting audits, investigations, and workplace inspections.
- Proficiency in incident investigations and auditing processes.
