DescriptionDP World is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director – Field Sales to lead and grow our commercial presence across Oceania, dedicated to growing Global Freight (GF business). This critical leadership role serves as the commercial bridge between our Global Freight Operations teams and the Sales & Logistics Commercial organisation, driving alignment and performance across the end-to-end customer journey.
This role dual-reports into both the Vice President of Commercial Logistics Oceania and Vice President of Global Freight Oceania, offering the opportunity to shape and execute a future-ready field sales strategy across Oceania. With the mandate to supercharge freight growth, you will have the ability to build and scale your own team across Oceania, with an immediate focus on key geographies in Australia and New Zealand, and planning for the broader Oceania geography.
You will be responsible for accelerating DP World’s Global Freight market share through strategic pipeline development, SME customer acquisition, and freight-forwarding-led solutions. A key part of your mission will be to expand our base of Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers, while leveraging our integrated logistics value chain to deliver tailored, multimodal solutions that drive value for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define the long-term vision for the field sales function with a strong emphasis on Global Freight, building the capability roadmap, sales playbooks, and enablement programs to support multimodal and end-to-end logistics growth.
- Drive a structured, cluster-wide sales rhythm that prioritizes Global Freight pipeline development and execution through regular reviews, strategic planning cycles, QBRs, and accurate forecasting.
- Develop and lead strategic sales plans for priority verticals with a focus on freight-forwarding-led solutions, setting clear performance targets and aligning initiatives with overall cluster growth objectives.
- Own commercial performance across field sales, with accountability for revenue generation, freight margin improvement, and expansion of DP World’s freight and logistics customer base—particularly in the SME segment.
- Lead executive-level commercial structuring including freight pricing strategies, bid governance, and contract negotiation for complex, multi-product and cross-border opportunities.
- Act as the key interface between GF Operations and Commercial Sales, ensuring strong collaboration and end-to-end accountability for customer success.
- Drive market-informed freight strategy by delivering insights on industry trends, trade lane developments, competitor freight actions, and evolving customer supply chain priorities—informing go-to-market planning and solution innovation.
- Hire, lead, and coach a high-performing sales team across Oceania, focused on SME growth and freight-forwarding penetration in priority geographies.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Minimum 10-15 years’ experience in commercial or field sales leadership within logistics, supply chain, or freight forwarding
- Proven track record in driving sales transformation, executing strategic initiatives, and delivering multi-product commercial growth
- Experienced in leading cross-functional teams and aligning sales strategies across multiple industry verticals
- Proficient in using sales enablement tools, CRM platforms, and delivering actionable performance reporting
- High proficiency in pipeline planning, opportunity development, and vertical-specific selling
- Strong commercial acumen with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- Commitment to safety, sustainability, and customer-centricity in all activities
