About The Team
Operating within the Planning and Regulation Directorate, the Public Safety Compliance business unit is tasked with overseeing regulatory activities relating to the City’s Local Laws. This includes education initiatives, compliance enforcement, and the implementation of measures to uphold community safety and amenity. The unit also provides integrated protective security services for Council assets and delivers Community Safety initiatives—including oversight of the city-wide Safety Camera Network—to promote a secure and welcoming environment for all residents and visitors.
The Protective Services division is focused on delivering comprehensive asset protection, incident response, alarm monitoring, and personnel safety services across the City of Gold Coast
About Your New Role
As Senior Security Technician, you will lead and manage the technical deployment and support of systems within the Protective Services Network.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Execute the installation, configuration, and functional testing of electronic security systems—including access control, intrusion detection, and IP-based CCTV systems—in accordance with city-approved designs, technical drawings, and specifications. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and fault resolution activities to ensure optimal system performance and reliability. Administer and manage network infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security across council facilities Ensure strict compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and company protocols during all site activities. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all installation, service, and maintenance procedures and outcomes.
We're Looking For People Who Have
Demonstrates a proactive commitment to improving service delivery in asset protection and operational safety Holds an Associate Diploma in Information Technology or possesses equivalent professional experience Maintains a current Open Cabling Registration Possesses a valid Security Provider Licence (Class 2) Has hands-on experience with high-end security platforms such as Tecom, C4, Gallagher, and Avigilon Is proficient in the configuration and management of IP cameras, video management systems (VMS), and network infrastructure Brings proven leadership capabilities and can negotiate outcomes effectively in complex or high-pressure environments Exhibits strong communication skills and sound judgment in administrative decision-making within regulatory contexts Is recognized for their integrity, positive work ethic, and commitment to driving continual improvement and operational efficiency.
