About the role:

As the successful applicant, you will lead a team of 3 x VPS4 Senior Analysts and 20 VPS3 analysts operating within the Victoria Police Monitoring & Assessment Centre (VPMAC) which is a hi-tech facility designed to capture, share, understand and act on quality intelligence related to terrorism, crime, traffic and public order issues.

The team utilise a variety of computer systems and sophisticated intelligence tools to research, collect and effectively manage, maintain, prepare and deliver intelligence alerts and real-time information relating to policing and/or, targeted high risk/priority offenders and public safety incidents to the relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Your duties will include:

  • Managing the functions of the VPMAC Intelligence Cell including provision of data and strategic reports regarding trends and work outputs.
  • Providing subject matter expertise to guide development and implementation of necessary system upgrades to support legislative and policy compliance.
  • Managing the implementation of new procedures including the development of standard operating procedures and appropriate governance and reporting provisions
  • Monitoring performance, provide timely and constructive feedback and facilitate employee development within VPMAC.
  • Remaining conversant with current national and international criminal, technological, legal and operational trends in crime, traffic and public order issues, and the intelligence tools being utilised in analysis and reporting.

Additional duties may include:

  • Performing duties in the State Police Operations Centre

About You:

The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:

  • As an analyst, preferably in a law enforcement or intelligence setting.
  • Managing and leading teams.
  • Providing authoritative advice to work unit, divisional and command leadership regarding intelligence processes and procedures.

Further Information:

  • One (1) x full-time, fixed term position available until 30/06/2027.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
