Central Highlands Regional Council is currently recruiting for a highly experienced Coordinator Safety to join their People, Safety & Legal team.
We are looking for a safety specialist, who enjoys working collaboratively with leaders and staff to foster a positive safety culture. This is a varied role that incorporates in field and office-based activities across all council facilities and work sites in the Central Highlands Region. This is an exciting time to join council as we undergo a Safety First Project which provides you with an opportunity to be part of a focus group to establish best practice standards to improve council’s overall safety management system.

In this role, you will support the organization by:
- Leading and mentoring a team of safety advisors
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with staff across the organisation to help develop their understanding of risks and reduce injuries in the workplace
- Regularly conducting site visits and participating in toolbox meetings
- Conducting risk assessments, incident investigations & safety observations
- Ensuring that safety audits, inspections and investigations are conducted to a high standard
- Providing work health and safety advice and legislation interpretation to the diverse CHRC organisation
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need to possess:
- Qualifications in Work Health & Safety or related discipline
- Experience and understanding of Queensland’s Work Health & Safety Legislation and Codes of Practices
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Competency in a wide range of Microsoft programs
- Qld C Class Drivers Licence
