About the Division / Team
Our Operations team works with a diverse customer base to support several nationally significant supply chains. With management responsibility spanning across five states, our 8,500km rail network is used to transport bulk products, passenger and general freight, including steel and a vast array of consumer items such as groceries, electrical goods and other items for both import and export markets.
The Operations teams work within several complex and challenging environments, including some of the busiest rail corridors in Australia to deliver safe, efficient and sustainable service delivery outcomes for its customers, stakeholders and the community.
About the Opportunity
Ensure the operational integrity and efficiency of a designated section of rail corridor.
- Install, modify, maintain and repair signalling and communication equipment, in accordance with technical maintenance plans, signalling discipline standards, practices and safeworking procedures
- Examine and test signalling equipment in accordance with signalling standards, diagnose and isolate faults, and ensure that appropriate certificates are submitted
- Install and maintain mechanical signalling locking, and interlocking devices;
Infrastructure and equipment - Maintain aerial signal/telecommunications lines and cables
- Attend to emergencies and irregularities ensuring equipment is promptly and safely returned to service
- Maintain materials, tools, vehicles and equipment
- Supervise and train staff to ensure that they perform their duties in accordance with signalling standards, practices and safeworking procedures
- Participate in projects and undertake other duties as requested
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Qualified railway Signal Electrician and/or relevant trade or technical experience
- Knowledge and ability to implement the principles of rail safety management, OHS principles and electrical codes of practice
- Experience in field fault finding, maintenance and repairs
- Sound written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Ability to apply quality systems including policies and procedures
- Customer service focus
- Drivers Licence - Class C
Desirable Selection Criteria:
- Detailed knowledge of telemetry and computer interlocking systems
- Current AUSTEL / ACA license
- Handsignalling and Worksite Protection Class 3
