An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and dynamic educator to join the leadership team as a Head of Department (Secondary) with a focus on Teaching & Learning at Goondiwindi State High School. This role is offered on a temporary full-time basis, for a period of 6 months, unless otherwise determined.
The Head of Department role will lead and manage the activities of students and teachers, in line with the school’s Vision and Values. Working as a member of the school’s senior executive team, you will improve the educational outcomes of students in the school by facilitating quality teaching and learning and nurturing positive relationships.
As the Head of Department you will be responsible for Student management of a Year Level, including enrolment, behaviour management and student welfare support and lead the delivery of all English subjects from Year 7 - 12.
About Goondiwindi State High School
Goondiwindi (pop - 6,500) is a vibrant rural town and locality, with a strong sense of community, on the banks of the Macintyre River approx. 200km east of Toowoomba. It is a centre for agriculture, producing a diverse range of crops and fibres including wool and beef, cotton, sorghum, corn, wheat, and barley.

Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.Embed socially just practices in daily school life.Set high standards for student and staff performance.Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
