Expression of Interest for Independent member of CEO Employment Matters Committee

Wyndham City Council is seeking to appoint an Independent Member to the CEO Employment and Remuneration Committee.

This Committee is responsible for defining and monitoring achievement of the CEO key performance indicators, contract renewal and remuneration arrangements.

If required, you will also support recruitment activities as required.

The role of the committee:

As a committee member you will be joined by our Mayor, Deputy Mayor and up to three other Councillors. The Committee will meet at least quarterly to review and measure performance and the effective leadership of Council towards its goals, provide constructive performance feedback and develop and assess the CEO performance and development plan.

As the independent member you will be relied upon to participate impartially and give fair and balanced advice on matters to do with the employment of the CEO.

Appointment will initially be for a two-year term with capacity for a two-year extension available at the discretion of Council. A sitting fee per meeting will be agreed with Council and any travel costs (where applicable) will be paid within ATO guidelines.

About you:

Expressions of interest are being sought from suitably experienced individuals. We are looking for a valuable contributor who can demonstrate the following key attributes:

  • Demonstrated senior experience in human resources, talent or performance management
  • Successful involvement in executive level performance management and development
  • Considerable relevant experience working within an executive government context
  • Political insight and an understanding of employment law, governance and committee principles and practices
  • Acute understanding of the challenges and opportunities inherent in municipal service delivery and organisation
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cohesively with elected officials
