The Role

As the Senior Payroll Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing in a hands on fashion all payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate salary payments, and maintaining compliance with payroll regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to improve and streamline payroll operations.

The key responsibilities include

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Process payroll transactions, including salaries, superannuation, and deductions.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure proper documentation.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and liaise with employees and relevant departments.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, superannuation, and employment legislation.
  • Assist in month-end closing and financial reporting activities related to payroll.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with payroll legislation and industry best practices.

About You

To ensure you are set up for success, we are seeking the following:

  1. 5 Years’ experience in leading and coordinating a payroll function within a medium to large scale organisation. Sound understanding of the functionality of the payroll system.
  2. Ensure the quality and accuracy of data entered into the system.
  3. Experience in providing accurate and timely advice and information in relation to payroll queries.
  4. Providing confidential, complex administrative support at a level that requires a professional approach with an emphasis on meeting deadlines, customer service and problem solving.
  5. Developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, both written and verbally, listen and assess the needs of employees and liaise with a wide range of people, both internal and external to the organisation.
  6. Organisational and time management skills.
  7. Analytical, numeracy and problem solving skills.
  8. To deal with issues confidentially and sensitively when applying established procedures and be committed to continual professional and personal development.
  9. To relate to people from various backgrounds and to work in a small team environment.
  10. Knowledge of modern awards applicable to the employees.
  11. Able to give and receive feedback from a variety of channels.
