Band 6 - Salary Range $95,073 to $103,531 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

The Opportunity
The Diversity and Inclusion Officer will lead initiatives to support underrepresented groups within the workforce and foster a culture that embraces diversity and inclusion at Melton City Council. Success in this role will require a consultative, patient, and pragmatic approach—building trust, influencing leadership, and driving meaningful change in preventing violence against women, promoting gender equity, and enhancing diversity.
This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact and is a great fit if you are a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, with the ability to translate strategy into action. Key Responsibilities
- Provide support for the Council’s Gender Equity Plan including actions, evaluation framework and developing and implementing the communication strategy.
- Develop initiates to promote the recruitment and inclusion for CARM (Culturally and Racially Marginalised), Neuro Diverse and LGBTQIA+ employees.
- Support the development of the RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan).
- Measure, analyse and report on the impact of development programs and initiatives.
- Work with employees to be diverse, inclusive, gender equitable and prevent and address violence against women.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications or demonstrated work experience in the areas of human resource management, Organisational Development or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, D&I strategies, programs and project.
- Strong Stakeholder Engagement – Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to build trust, gain buy-in and drive meaningful outcomes.
- Familiarity with reporting, diversity metrics, and broader employee data governance with the ability to think analytically and drive continuous improvement in D&I initiatives.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
