About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Communication Technician – Narrowband to join our team at Kilsyth, VIC. This role is critical in supporting, testing, and maintaining Narrowband communication systems, ensuring seamless operations for our customers. You will work hands-on with RF equipment, installations, system troubleshooting, and field deployments.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Support & Maintenance – Provide technical support for Narrowband communication systems, including troubleshooting and repairs.Field Installations & Testing – Conduct site visits, equipment installations, configurations, testing, and commissioning.Fault Finding & Troubleshooting – Perform diagnostics and repairs to ensure optimal system performance.Product Support & Customer Training – Assist customers and sales teams with product knowledge, ensuring smooth system operation.Project & Tender Support – Contribute to quotes, tenders, and technical documentation for Narrowband solutions.Compliance & Documentation – Ensure all installations and system integrations meet industry standards and are well documented.
Qualifications & Experience5+ years’ experience in RF field services, preferably in Narrowband communications.Strong knowledge of RF principles, two-way radio systems, and multi-coupling antenna systems.Hands-on experience with RF system testing, configuration, and troubleshooting.Willingness to travel for field work (domestic and international).Experience working on RF system design, bid/quote preparation, and project delivery.Familiarity with RF propagation tools or engineering software is an advantage.
Highly regarded:Experience with AM/FM/DAB+ rebroadcast and/or VHF, UHF Radio systems such as DMR, P25 and TETRA systemsExperience with leaky feeder systems and familiar with tunnel environmentsExperience with fibre technologies and familiar with IT Networks, TCP/IP, SNMP etc
