Australian BioResources (ABR) is a state-of-the-art facility that specializes in breeding and maintaining high-quality laboratory mice for medical researchers across NSW and throughout Australia. We are located in Moss Vale which is approximately 1 1/2 hours south of Sydney. As an ABR Animal Technician, you will join our team of highly trained professionals and contribute to vital medical research by caring for precious research mice. More information about ABR can be found here: https://abr.org.au/As an ABR Animal Technician, your primary responsibilities will be centred around ensuring the welfare of the mice. There are both full time and part time positions available.
These duties will include ( but are not limited to ) :

Providing a high level of care to ensure animals are maintained in a healthy state including: food, water, and a clean cage;
- Monitoring animal health and welfare
- Checking for pregnancy and litters born
- Prepare mice for transport to facilities Australia wide
- Setting up breeding pairs (under the guidance of senior staff)
- Collect samples for genotyping and health monitoring
- Maintaining accurate records using our bespoke online Animal Management System.

- Work in compliance with all ABR quality assurance programs, animal ethics and quarantine protocols
- You will need your own transportation
- You will be required to work as per the ABR Animal Technician roster and be able to participate in shifts covering Weekends and Public Holidays
Previous experience working with animals or a related qualification would be highly advantageous. A basic understanding of the husbandry, housing, and breeding requirements of laboratory animals or basic manipulation skills (such as injection techniques or euthanasia) would also be beneficial.
The salary for this position ranges from $62,100 to $67,600 per annum depending on previous experience, plus 11.5% superannuation .
