About the opportunity:
Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager - Aggregates and supporting the Holcim WA Aggregates business, this is a key regional safety leadership role supporting the region's quarrying, logistics and business operations functions. The role provides health and safety advisory, coaching and support services to regional managers, supervisors, and operations on health and safety matters, and leads the implementation of Holcim Global and Holcim Australia health and safety programs and initiatives across the region.
You will assist the business to safely deliver on their strategic and operational objectives, and contribute to the development of line management and supervisor health and safety capability. You will also assist key stakeholders understand, implement and utilise health and safety systems and processes, with a focus on continuous improvement.
Other key accountabilities include:

Promoting a strong safety culture, leading with care at all levels of the organisation.

Building strong working relationships with key stakeholders, being a trusted partner from the front line to senior management teams.

Maintaining a working knowledge of work health and safety legislation, industry trends and risk improvement opportunities relevant to the business and its risk profile.

Prepare and present safety performance reports for senior, regional and local management.

Liaise with regulatory bodies, clients, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters.

Leading, assisting or advising line management in the safety risk management process including hazard identification, risk assessment, control design, and monitoring of effectiveness of key risk controls.

Leading or supporting the implementation and verification of the Holcim Critical Risk Control framework, and associated safety improvement projects.

Leading or supporting line management with incident investigations.

Leading or assisting in health and safety audits against Holcim safety management system requirements, relevant legislation and standards.

Monitoring, measuring, tracking and reporting on key health and safety related actions arising from audits, investigations, or health & safety related improvement initiatives.

Supporting management in active health and safety consultation across the business unit.
The role requires regular site visits to engage with, advise, coach and support operations on health and safety matters.

About you:
To be successful in this role you will need:
-
Degree qualifications in health and safety, or equivalent.
-
Credible experience in a senior safety advisory or safety leadership role, preferably within the cement, quarrying, mining, construction or industrial manufacturing sectors.

Strong influencing abilities and capability to work with a broad range of stakeholders including the front operations, management and regulators.
-
Demonstrated experience in deploying health and safety strategies, plans, systems and processes with a focus on critical risk management and continuous improvement.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas, and engage productively with a range of audiences.

Relevant experience in safety audits, leading incident investigations and reporting on safety related matters.

Strong knowledge of relevant work health & safety legislation and industry practices.

Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions.

Relevant experience with the use of incident, audit and risk IT platforms.

Intermediate proficiency in Google suite preferred.
