About the Role

Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Manager – APAC, you will be responsible for overseeing the debtors’ portfolio across MUFG MPMS Group of Companies in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and India. You will work closely with our India-based team to ensure monthly cash collection targets are met, while serving as a key point of escalation for senior managers, internal stakeholders, and major external clients. Additionally, you will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for credit, collections, and receipting functions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Focus

  • Monitor and manage group debtors to ensure monthly cash collection targets are achieved, proactively addressing risks and issues.
  • Collaborate with Client Relationship Managers (CRMs) to resolve debtor issues and provide training on policies, procedures, and systems as needed.
  • Oversee the collection cycle, including reminder letters, final demands, credit notes, and escalations to collection agencies.
  • Ensure timely and accurate receipting of debtor accounts by the Accounts Receivable team.

Operational Management

  • Lead and facilitate in-person or virtual meetings with CRMs and other departments to support timely invoice collections.
  • Prepare accurate debtor aging reports and end-of-month board reports.
  • Manage debtor statement mailings and ensure timely reconciliations.
  • Supervise daily cash receipting and bank reconciliations.
  • Identify and implement process and system improvements.

Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Act as the key point of contact for internal and external escalations, ensuring efficient resolution of queries.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the credit control function, working closely with CRMs and the Finance team.
  • Collaborate with the India-based AR team and APAC stakeholders to maintain efficient credit control operations.

Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure high data integrity and maintain accurate debtor records.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with credit control.
  • Ensure compliance with internal credit control policies and procedures.

Experience & Skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance or Accounting (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience as a Senior Credit Controller or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in ERP general ledger, sales ledger, and reporting tools (e.g., Vision, TM1).
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong numerical proficiency.
  • Strong reconciliation skills and a solid understanding of accounting structures.
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective planning and prioritization skills, with a proactive and self-motivated approach.
  • Flexibility to accommodate varying start and finish times when collaborating with the APAC team.
