We’re on the lookout for a passionate, proactive, and energetic Environmental Health Officer to join our amazing team at the Fraser Coast Regional Council!
As an Environmental Health Officer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring a healthy environment for the community and be responsible for conducting inspections, investigations, and compliance assessment.

What your day will look like:
- Offer expert guidance on environmental health issues to customers and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and top-notch customer service.
- Conduct inspections, investigations, and compliance actions related to public health, environmental health, and regulatory services, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and local laws.
- Contribute to the creation and improvement of policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the efficient delivery of environmental health services and regulatory compliance.
- Assess and respond to customer requests in a timely and appropriate manner.

What you’ll need for success:
- Currently hold or is currently enrolled and actively completing a Degree in Applied Science(Environmental Health)or qualification allowing eligibility for professional membership of Environmental Health Australia

- Demonstrated experience with, or ability to rapidly acquire, the technical components of Environmental Health including the use of required equipment and an understanding of relevant legislation and local laws and the ability to apply this to real world situations
- Ability in exercising judgement in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation.
- Intermediate skills and knowledge in the effective utilisation of data systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel and Power Point)
- Experience with compliance complaints handling and or investigations.
- High level of communication skills and the ability to influence and educate to encourage voluntary compliance .
- Ability to provide consistently high level of internal and external customer service.
What’s nice to have:
- Experience as an Environmental Health Officer in Local Government
- Pest Management Technician Qualification
