About the Roles
Join our Media and Corporate Communications team in either the Public Information branch or Strategic and Internal Communications branch, where you will play a key role in delivering communications that engage WA communities and the dedicated people working on the frontline and behind the scenes.
These roles are so rewarding but require a high degree of flexibility. As well as delivering on various communications projects, you’ll need to participate in an on-call roster.
This involves working outside of regular business hours to help keep the community informed and connected during emergencies. There may also be occasions when you'll have to work beyond standard hours, even when not on-call, as this is all part of the important public information function that helps keep the community safe whenever and wherever an emergency strikes.
Strategic and Internal Communications Officer

We’re looking for a self-motivated communications professional to develop and deliver strategic and internal communications across DFES. You’ll create compelling content, provide communication support for corporate projects and offer up expert advice to our stakeholders - all while working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Communications Officer - Public Information
Help keep communities informed when it matters most!
When disaster strikes, clear and timely information can save lives. We’re looking for a proactive and adaptable communications professional to help keep Western Australians safe and informed when it matters most.
In this dynamic role, you’ll develop and implement communication strategies to ensure communities receive accurate and timely warnings, empowering people to make safe and informed decisions. You’ll also work to strengthen DFES’ public information capability through the delivery of workshops and training, as well as contributing to the enhancement of the State’s world class warning system, Emergency WA.
You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve these objectives, so excellent relationship building skills are a must.
