About the role:
The primary purpose of this role is to process all aspects of accounts payable and provide quality administrative services that support the operational programs and services, operating as part of the Finance and Fleet functions.
The Finance Officer is supervised by the Finance Manager and the position has no supervisory responsibilities.
This position works closely with other members of the Finance Team and maintains regular contact with other program staff to ensure effective outcomes for clients.
Key responsibilities:
- Preparation and maintenance of accounts payable, including monthly review and reconciliation of supplier statements, invoices, and raising purchase orders.
- Perform regular reconciliations of the organisation’s bank and petty cash accounts including processing credit card transactions and physical counts of vouchers and cash on hand.
- Monitoring email inboxes, assist staff with fleet booking enquires, issuing petty cash and vouchers, printing, scanning, uploading and saving documents to digital files, data entry and other administrative tasks.
- Assist with general financial tasks including sub-ledger reconciliation, and end of month reporting.
- Providing excellent customer service and projecting a positive organisational image by using a professional, courteous, and helpful manner when liasing with internal and external stakeholders
- Establish and maintain preferred supplier arrangements to support organisational needs.
- Provide support for fleet of motor vehicles as directed including vehicle collection / drop off for servicing and repairs.
- Participate in organisational and community activities to advance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Work within Wuchopperen’s Policies and Procedures including the Staff Code of Conduct and the Work Health and Safety requirements and contribute to continuous improvement processes to ensure compliance with relevant standards and safe, effective service delivery.

Core Capabilities:
- For applicants to be successful in this role, they should demonstrate:
- Demonstrated ability and experience with processing accounts payable function including current knowledge of GST legislation preferrable.
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander societies and cultures from an historical and contemporary perspective, including the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated proficiency or willingness to learn in the use of Office365 products at an high level, with specific emphasis on MS Excel.
- The ability to innovate and re-define systems and processes with a motivated and outcome focussed approach.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a multi-disciplinary team environment, prioritise and meet deadlines, deal with matters of a sensitive and confidential nature.
- Demonstrated ability to meet and work within the core values and behaviours of Wuchopperen.
Qualifications and experience:
Current knowledge and understanding of Australian Taxation Office Guidelines with an emphasis on GST. Knowledge of Public Benevolent Institutions highly regarded.
Requirements:
- Hold a current Blue Card (for suitability to work with children and young people).
- Proof of qualifications is required to be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
- Possess a current driver’s licence.
- A commitment to adhere to Wuchopperen’s policies and procedures.
