The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Director Aboriginal Outcomes to provide leadership and direction across DCCEEW to deliver outcomes for Aboriginal communities under the Closing the Gap framework.
About the Role
The Director Aboriginal Outcomes develops strategies and business cases, oversees reporting, and facilitates the DCCEEW relationship with the Coalition of Aboriginal Peak Organisations to enable greater connections between departmental programs and Closing the Gap outcomes.
About You
The successful applicant will be a strong relationship builder with a proven track record in building a high degree of trust with and for Aboriginal peoples, communities and entities in NSW to provide cultural advice, support and guidance. You will have highly advanced communication and collaboration skills along with the ability to engage, influence and negotiate with key stakeholders which will be paramount to your success.
Essential Requirements
- Extensive experience in a strategy and coordination function which champions Aboriginal outcomes, including embedding systemic, strategic and operational processes within core business and advice at a senior level.
- Experience in delivering Department wide strategies, including thought leadership, coordination and reporting.
- Experience partnering with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and entities.
- This role is an identified Aboriginal role and therefore Aboriginality is a requirement of the job as well as cultural association with one or more Aboriginal communities.
- Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
- is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
