Are you an experienced and compassionate HR professional with a passion for making a difference in the lives of people in aged care and disability services? STAR Community Services is seeking a Business Services Lead with a focus on Human Resources to join our dedicated and supportive team. In this key role, you'll oversee the HR operations, shape people management strategies, and help create a positive, empowering work environment for our staff who support people with disabilities and older Australians.

STAR supports the elderly and people with disability to live independently, engage with the wider community and achieve their goals. With the generous support of local community volunteers, we offer a wide range of aged care and disability support services to ensure that the vulnerable members of our community can access affordable and reliable services such as Home Care Packages, transport, in-home help, social activities, companionship and more.

We are an advocate of inclusive communities where people of all ages and abilities have equal access to opportunities and facilities. Fighting social isolation is a key area of focus for STAR. We regularly organise programs and events to help reduce the growing problem of social isolation amongst the elderly and people with disabilities.

What are the Key responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Prepare accurate and timely HR documentation – contracts, contract amendments and position descriptions, ER related documentations.
  • Participating in ER-related inquiries and investigations and contributing to the resolution of workplace grievances.
  • Maintaining awareness of changes in Labour laws and regulations, ensuring the organization's adherence to legal requirements & employee entitlements
  • Maintain and / or develop HR policies, systems and processes, work instructions
  • Lead HR processes including recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding procedures.
  • Wage subsidy Management
  • Workplace Health and Safety; Assist with quality assurance in collaboration with the quality and compliance officer to ensure consistency and effectiveness in HR practices.
  • Provide advanced administrative support to the Business Services Manager, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and document preparation
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on compliance-related matters.
  • Ensure team members receive regular supervision and performance appraisals
  • Capacity to lead, motivate and develop staff to achieve results
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture through effective communication, collaboration, and recognition of team achievements.
  • Manage workers compensation claims, incident reporting, and return to work programs and processes.
  • Work with external stakeholders in relation to host placement, return to work & rehabilitation
  • Manage external contractor and stakeholder contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate contract negotiations, renewals, and amendments as required.

What will you bring to the role?

Qualification in Human Resources (or related field)

Previous end-to-end recruitment experience and/or previous HR experience

Previous contract generation for both Human Resources and external contractors

Familiarity with HRIS or HR database

Excellent communication skills

Proficient with MS Office Suite

Strong administration skills

Experience working with a Not For profit Organisation and Volunteers
