Searson Buck Is Seeking a Building & Project Officer for our client in Latrobe.
Related to buildings and facilities that the Client is responsible for, including leased or licensed properties. Ensure these projects are safe, fit for purpose, sustainable, provide good value and deliver an appropriate return on investment. Investigate, develop, implement, oversee and commission projects
About You:
  • Experience managing projects of various types including the assessment of value and return on investment advice.
  • Demonstrated capacity to simultaneously manage projects related to community facilities for new builds and renovation works and deliver on time and within budget.
  • Sound understanding of the relevant codes and legislation as it relates to building and tenancy requirements, recreation areas, swimming pools, playgrounds, and community sports sites.
  • Experience in directing and leading people to communicate Council needs and deliver on work requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills and qualities with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships.

About the Role:
  • Ensure the progression of projects relating to the property portfolio which includes but is not limited to; vacant land, cemeteries, recreation areas, office/depot buildings, halls, playgrounds, skate parks, pump tracks, mountain bike trails, sports facilities (including pools), waste transfer station, accommodation facilities (Elderly Person Units, Camp Banksia, camping areas and Caravan Park) and amenities. Ensure consistency with Council’s requirements, meet user needs and return maximum value (monetary and community use) on investment.
  • Make informed and justified reports and recommendations for Council to acquire, dispose of, build (new or renovate) or repurpose property to meet Council’s requirements.
  • Develop projects for a 10 year forward capital works program and manage through to completion for build, renovation or repurpose to ensure completion on time and within budget using available resources.
  • Manage processes to acquire property for Client and to dispose of property for the Client
  • Seek external funding through grant applications to assist in the delivery of priority projects and deliver projects in conformance with grant deeds.
  • Provide clarification to staff when updating Client’s asset management database with respect of information relating to properties (built or land).
  • Work with the various groups, committees and other facility users to ensure the needs of parties are adequately considered with any decision making or budgeting process.
  • Coordinate applications seeking approval for works including development, building and plumbing.
  • Provide regular reporting on activities.
