About the role

Corrective Services manages the State’s prisons, youth detention, work camps, and people on probation, parole, and other community orders. Within Corrective Services is five Directorates whose key priorities include ensuring the safety of the community, staff, and those in our care, promoting rehabilitation and upholding ethical and transparent practices.

The Directorate Executive Manager is responsible for supporting a Deputy Commissioner by effectively managing the Directorate’s business and workflow functions in accordance with Departmental procedures. This includes:
  • Ensuring appropriate delegated authority is exercised in managing human and financial resources.
  • Preparing and completing ministerial briefings, corporate correspondence and a range of directorate information requests giving regard to timeliness and accuracy of information.
  • Coordination of business processes in order to meet priorities as delegated by the Deputy Commissioner.
The Executive Manager plays a key role promoting teamwork and collaboration in a matrix environment and acts as a conduit between key Divisional and Directorate stakeholders. This position promotes the Departmental values of integrity, respect, accountability, learning and excellence and ensures confidential and sensitive information is handled with a high level of professionalism and probity.

  • Demonstrated experience in providing a highly efficient executive support services. This includes operating with a strategic focus and the ability to direct and manage the administrative governance processes within a Directorate in a highly regulated environment where operational targets are monitored and measured.
  • Ability to vet and produce executive level correspondence including the preparation of professional written reports and presentations. Develops and maintains strategic stakeholder relations (internally and externally) in a high-risk environment of competing demands and differing expectations.

Pool Recruitment

This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, and/or fixed term full time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
