About the Role
Are you an experienced Project Manager looking to lead and deliver impactful capital and operational projects in the Barkly Region? Barkly Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager to oversee infrastructure initiatives that support community growth and development.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with Council’s strategic objectives. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure/Fleet, you will provide leadership, planning, and stakeholder engagement to drive successful project outcomes.
The Essentials
- Advance Diploma qualification in Project Management, Engineering or similar
- A track record of successfully managing multiple ($2 to $5 million) projects with demonstrated experience (minimum 3 years) in Project Management.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully reporting to Council, Government Departments or Board, with appropriate written and oral briefings and presentations
- Understanding or the ability to quickly become familiar with, all relevant local government, funded programs, and other relevant legislation, bylaws, and organisational policies.
- Prepare project plans that include milestones to identify risks and opportunities.
- Current Driver’s Licence with 4WD remote area skills.
- Current National Police Criminal History Check (within the last 3 months).
- Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).

- You have proven leadership and organisational skills, with a strong track record of managing multiple infrastructure and development projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- You are a skilled communicator who can build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, using your expertise to foster collaboration and drive project success.
- You are passionate about delivering high-quality infrastructure and services that enhance community wellbeing, with a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by remote communities.
The Finer Details
- Full-Time - Permanent position paying Above EBA Award Agreement Classification of the Barkly Regional Council Enterprise Agreement 2023.
- Annual Salary of $115,500.00 per annum ($4,442.31 gross per fortnight).
- Tennant Creek Zone Allowance of $1.89 per ordinary hour.
- 11.5% Superannuation.
- Housing subsidy of up to $330 may be available to external applicants.
- Annual Leave of 6 weeks paid with 17.5% Leave Loading.

Barkly Regional Council requires that all applicants have a National Criminal History Check. You will be required to provide a recent National Criminal History Clearance prior to any offer of employment.
