Description:

Be a State Shaper in the Regional and Spatial Planning division.

As a Senior Planner you will contribute to the Regional Planning team by reviewing and implementing regional plans across Queensland (excluding the South East Queensland region). Be part of a team developing policy responses that make a real difference to Queensland’s investment environment and helping to grow regional communities. Engage with state agencies, local government, industry bodies, First Nations peoples and the public.

Help provide the strategic direction needed to prepare policy that achieves regional outcomes which align with the state’s interest in planning and development. Work with a team skilled in planning policy, ecology, housing, urban design, demographics, data analytics, spatial analysis and policy implementation.

As a Senior Planner You Will

  • Apply specialist knowledge, expertise and strategic thinking to undertake problem solving as part of a project team on planning and development assessment related matters that are of strategic importance to regional planning and the department.
  • Undertake research, analysis, interpret and provide advice on complex issues in relation to regional planning initiatives under the Planning Act 2016 and Regional Planning Interests Act 2014 .
  • Prepare high quality documentation including correspondence, submissions, briefs, presentations, and reports on complex and sensitive issues.
  • Coordinate and maintain project management and reporting systems and work to project plans and timeframes that contribute to effective delivery of the regional planning program.
  • Maintain professional networks with internal and external stakeholders by keeping open and effective lines of communication.
  • Work collaboratively with senior management, project teams, government agencies and external stakeholders to ensure regional planning project outcomes are achieved.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and divisional discussions in a respectful manner and share your technical skills and experience to provide support to other officers in the team.
  • Represent the department, as appropriate, at meetings, forums, committees, industry/stakeholder events in an effective and professional manner.
