The Capability branch is located in the Schools and Student Support Division. The Capability branch is committed to a thriving and capable workforce equipped with the skills and confidence to support every student to realise their potential. A key part of the Capability branch is the Education Futures Institute (EFI) that delivers high-quality, evidence-informed and equitable capability development for a diverse workforce across key career stages.

The Education Futures Institute provides customised and co-designed professional learning programs to empower staff to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to excel in their role.

About The Role

As a Senior Project Officer, you will play an important role in leading and coordinating the delivery of high-quality professional learning at the EFI Professional Learning Centre in Brisbane CBD.

Key Functions Of This Role Include

  • Provide oversight of EFI centre operations and logistics, including venue management, administration, AV, facilities and risk management.
  • Maintain and enhance operational procedures to ensure smooth operations, efficiency and compliance with workplace health and safety regulations and accessibility requirements.
  • Provide exceptional client-service and delivery including strong relationships with key stakeholders, staff, colleagues, and external service providers, ensuring a high-quality experience for attendees.
  • Lead a small team, ensuring clear communication, role delegation and professional support.
  • Provide advice and support to branch senior leadership team and regional campuses as required.


About You

The ideal applicants are individuals who demonstrate:

  • Event management skills and experience coordinating the delivery of complex events, preferably in a government or education setting, with a willingness to step in and assist with event operations.
  • Strategic planning and problem-solving skills; an ability to troubleshoot, anticipate challenges and develop solutions.
  • Leadership and organisational skills; experience managing teams and fostering a positive, collegial work culture, with high attention to detail and exceptional organisational skills.
  • Technical & AV proficiency with familiarity with audio visual systems and troubleshooting for live events is advantageous but not essential.
