About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Division
The Curriculum and Teaching Practice Division (CTPD) is responsible for developing and supporting schools to implement the department's teaching and learning policies and providing curriculum implementation guidance to Victorian government schools.
CTPD draws on contemporary research, practice evidence to develop evidence-based teaching and learning policy reforms, and co-design and implement initiatives to support schools to deliver high-quality teaching programs. CTPD has primary responsibility for providing advice and implementation support to government schools to deliver the Victorian Curriculum.
CTPD has three branches: Literacy, Languages, the Arts and Humanities; Numeracy, STEM and Digital Learning; and Teaching and Learning. Across these branches, key functions include:
* developing and communicating policies and guidance in areas such as curriculum planning, enabling learning, pedagogy, assessment and reporting, curriculum implementation (including languages education, Holocaust education, literacy instruction, mathematics and numeracy education), and artificial intelligence
* developing lesson plans and other classroom teaching and learning resources to support curriculum delivery across F-10
* designing and delivering high-quality professional learning to build teachers' professional expertise in key pedagogical and curriculum areas
* developing and managing the Arc Platform and implementing high-quality teaching and learning software
* fostering student, family and community engagement through programs like the Premiers' Reading Challenge, Books in Prep Bags, and community language schools.
About the Branch
The Teaching and Learning Branch (TLB) develops policy settings for teaching and learning programs in Victorian government schools and provides implementation guidance and supports to schools. TLB comprises of 4 teams:
* Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting
* Teacher Professional Practice
* Transformation and Engagement
* Lesson Plans Coordination
About the Unit
The Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Unit (CARU):
* Works closely with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) to develop implementation guidance for schools regarding the Victorian Curriculum Foundation to 10.
* Leads the policy design and development of implementation guidance for both student assessment and reporting of student achievement and progress against the Victorian Curriculum achievement standards.
* Supports assessment of student learning in mathematics through provision, quality assurance and enhancement of online assessment tools (on the Insight Assessment Platform) including the Mathematics Online Interview (MOI) and Fractions and Decimals Online Interview (FDOI), along with providing guidance on their use.

The role of Senior Project Advisor in CARU, is responsible for leading the delivery of projects, including the department's Mathematics Online Interview (MOI) and Fractions and Decimals Online Interview (FDOI) professional learning project for teachers. The MOI and FDOI are online numeracy instruments currently accessible to Victorian schools from the Insight Assessment Platform.
This role also involves supporting the development of curriculum, assessment and reporting expertise across Victoria's education system. Responsibilities include updating curriculum, assessment and reporting policies, providing Secretariat support for governance groups, and responding to external queries about curriculum, assessment and student reporting.
This role calls for strong project management skills, the ability to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, and exemplary attention to detail.
The successful applicant will be required to draft and progress meeting papers and briefings, manage suppliers and their outputs, monitor project delivery timeframes and budget, and provide regular written and verbal updates to peers, stakeholders and senior management.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
A relevant tertiary qualification in education is desirable.
Experience in managing projects and procurement is required.
