Our client, a large Federal government department based in Civic, ACT, requires a senior infrastructure officer for a 12 + 12 + 12 month temporary non-ongoing engagement.

There are current and emerging projects of various scales and complexity requiring an experienced officer with proven technical skills in delivering ICT infrastructure.

Their technical services will need to encompass a strong understanding of project management, construction design, electrical layouts, data and communications diagrams, installation of ICT networks and equipment.

Duties

  • Manage and assist with various projects providing technical advice and direction to stakeholders while supporting subject matter experts in the design process.
  • Independently manage and deliver the outcomes of projects in domestic and international programs or portfolios.
  • Undertake the installation of the department's IT, network and communications systems as part of the project scope.
  • Manage supply chains including procurement, dispatch and secure storage of goods.
  • Provide and submit written reports for various ICT projects, including Project Management Office reporting, budget management and travel reports.
  • Provide installation documentation of various ICT systems.
  • Develop and implement a strategy to transfer knowledge and upskill employees on ICT Infrastructure.

Selection Criteria

  • Must have a minimum of 10 years' experience in either IT, Network and Communications Systems,
  • Experienced in building codes and industry standards relevant to construction, security and IT,
  • Australian qualification in construction or infrastructure in the relevant technical industry out line above.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the PSPF, APS codes of conduct and APS Values is essential.
  • Experience in interpreting the ICT and security implications from technical communication drawings, along with the ability to make technical decisions to ensure overall compliance.
  • A strong proficiency and expertise in providing technical support and/or ICT infrastructure installations domestically and at overseas locations.
  • Must hold current technical and safety certifications working on construction sites.

Desirable criteria

  • A comprehensive knowledge of the department of policies and procedures would be advantageous.
  • Possess a comprehensive knowledge of the department's ICT network connection equipment.
  • Understand the classification levels within the department to ensure consistent security measures are upheld.
