Position Objective
Assist with maintaining water and sewerage networks, facilities, processes, and treatment plants in accordance
with industry, regulatory and legislative standards.
Position Responsibilities
General Functions- Participate in rostered on-call schedules as required and emergency after-
- In the absence of the Water and Sewerage Supervisor, this position will
report to the Utilities Manager and when directed undertake agreed roles
and responsibilities required of the Supervisor.
- Other such relevant duties as required from this position which would
accountable supervisor or the Director of Infrastructure.
Functional Area Key Responsibilities
Water and Sewerage This position will assist in the following: :- Undertaking a variety of tasks within one or more of the following fields of
work:
o Cleaning, repairing, clearing, replacing and extending sewerage
and water supply and pumps, reservoirs and treatment plants,
o Sampling, testing and monitoring water supply, sewerage and
effluent quality and quantity,
o Inspection and surveillance of mains, plant, structures and
buildings,
o Maintaining, servicing and operating water supply and sewerage
infrastructure, plant, equipment and property.
o Maintenance of pipework’s, pumps (including pump wells) and
associated fittings at Council’s pump wells and Sewerage
Treatment Plant.
o Responding to system failure emergencies.
o Worksite traffic control, placement of signs and checking of signs.
o Installation and maintenance of water meters across the LGA.
o General housekeeping at water and sewage infrastructure.
- Driving/operating, maintaining and servicing Council’s plant.
- Install and replace water meters and read meters/instruments within the
- Undertake relevant reporting, proactively identify/address workplace
- Attend to and respond appropriately to Customer Service Request
- Install New Water and Sewar connections.
- Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and the care of others in professional
- Contribute constructively to culture of health and safety within the Council.
Supervisor • The Water and Sewerage Labourer will have an effective, respectful and
responsive relationship with the Water Industry Supervisor and will work
together to ensure projects are completed ensuring compliance with
safety, regulatory and quality standards.
Team Members
- The Water and Sewerage Labourer will have a collaborative, respectful and
operation, maintenance and monitoring of water systems.
Community • The Water and Sewerage Labourer will provide positive communication
with other businesses and customers and respond in a timely, respectful
manner to all Customer Service Requests.
Inherent Requirements of the Position
- Ability to meet the physical demands of this role.
- Construction White card.
- Willingness to undertake further training as required.
- This position is required to wear an approved Longreach Regional Council uniform at all times
- This position requires a Pre-Employment Medical Assessment.
- Class Unrestricted 'C' Drivers Licence.

Experience/Qualifications
- Implement Traffic Management Certificate.
- Provide First Aid Certificate.
- Plant Competency in one or all ; Forklift, Excavator, Backhoe
- Class Unrestricted 'C' Drivers Licence.

- Assist in maintaining a high level of housekeeping, cleanliness, and tidiness.
- Undertake tasks as required to enable continuous improvement for WHS management
