Business Analyst

• Based in Brisbane CBD

Eden Ritchie Recruitment is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Business Analyst to join a key Queensland Government department.
This role is needed to bring business analyst expertise to internal project teams. The successful candidate will collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to analyse the current performance of the organisation and support the program in the implementation of portfolio and financial management frameworks and business process redesign to modernise the business, improve the delivery of services and uplift capability.
Accountabilities:
• Requirement Gathering: Engage with stakeholders to collect and document business requirements using interviews, surveys, and workshops. Including workshop facilitation to elicit requirements.
• Process Analysis: Evaluate existing business processes to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement through process mapping and modelling techniques.
• Data Analysis: Analyse data to identify trends and gaps, informing business decisions and providing actionable insights.
• Solution Design: Develop functional and non-functional specifications to guide the design and implementation of solutions that meet business needs.
• Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication between project teams and business stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Documentation: Development and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation, for example, business requirements documents, traceability matrices, process maps.
• Business Readiness: Supporting business transition and helping to establish change.
• Presentation Development: Research and prepare draft reports, briefing materials and correspondence for submission to senior management.
• User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Coordinate and participate in testing activities to validate that solutions meet requirements before deployment.
Qualifications and/or experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in formal Business Analysis methods on projects and initiatives varying in size, complexity and ambiguity.
• Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABoK).
• Process modelling to BPMN standard
• Business Analysis within Waterfall / Agile and Scrum methodologies
• Stakeholder workshops/interview facilitation
• Proficiency in tools such as MS Suite
We are looking for someone who:
• Will proactively bring their knowledge, skills and experience to support the establishment of projects as they are entering the Ideation Phase.
• The ability to make decisions around things such as requirement prioritisation, scope, assessing viability of solutions.
• Creative and resourceful, alongside excellent analytical thinking to find solutions to operational inefficiencies, regulatory challenges and/or business/technology gaps.
• Excellent documentation and writing skills to communicate to stakeholders, bringing solutions to life is a must!
• Builds genuine relationships with stakeholders and staff through positive, empathetic and effective communication. The ability to ask the right questions and correctly understand the information received is essential.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work in a fast paced, constantly changing environment.
• Confident presentation skills – ability to write and speak clearly to easily communicate complex ideas in a way that is easy to understand.
