The WHS Advisor is a newly created role in the Operations team to support Systra’s growing Australian footprint. This role will report to the Head of WHS, who will engage the WHS Advisor to coordinate safety compliance workflows, site inspections, return to work, as well as manage hazard and incident risk registers.

Working closely with line managers, this role will be key to embedding a safety aware culture across project support and onsite teams. The successful candidate will be expected to attend the Perth Office regularly and be available to occasionally travel to sites.


  • Coordinate mandatory safety awareness training for new employees and ensure that they have the right licenses and competencies to go onsite.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to ensure that staff engage in safe work methods and environmental risks are properly mitigated. Work-related travel will be required.
  • Ensure actions from inspections, audits, incident investigations, hazard reports, team meetings are recorded and followed through until closed out.
  • Manage the provision of PPE and educate staff on preventative health and safety measures including stretching exercises, rest breaks, ergonomics and posture.
  • Develop emergency and preparedness plans for corporate offices and act as the local fire warden during drills and evacuations.
  • Stay informed of current WHS regulations and industry standards to ensure compliance and best practices. Provide a monthly WHS update for the company newsletter.
  • Take ownership of communications and activities during significant work health and safety dates incl. Safe Work Month and R U OK? Day.
  • Support the Operations team with safety, quality and environmental plans and assist to implement health and wellbeing initiatives.
  • Process workers compensation claims and support injured workers through the recovery process.

  • Certificate IV OHS and or working towards Graduate Certificate, Diploma OHS, Certificate in Risk management.
  • Passionate about promoting health, wellbeing and safe work practices through regular communications and training.
  • Confident working with data, observing trends and analyses to inform decision making.
  • Proven ability to build sound working relationships across diverse groups internally and externally.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
